About Neet - UG
NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate) is a standardized entrance
examination in India for students seeking admission to various undergraduate medical and dental
courses. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on
behalf of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
NEET UG is the single entrance test for admissions to MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of
Surgery), BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery),
BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery), BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and
Surgery), and other related courses in various medical and dental colleges across the country.
NEET is one of India’s most important medical entrance exams for UG admissions. The offline examination is conducted in 11 languages, including English and Hindi. Those who wish to apply for NEET need to register on NTA’s official website to access the application form. NEET UG replaced various exams such as AIPMT, state-level medical entrance exams, and university-level medical entrance exams.
Neet - Exam Pattern
The NEET exam pattern is designed to assess candidates on their knowledge in Chemistry, Physics, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The examination follows an offline mode and spans a duration of 3 hours and 20 minutes, equivalent to 200 minutes. The exam is scheduled from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM. NEET Paper Usually consists of a total of 200 questions, with 180 questions considered for the final score as 20 questions are not applicable for attempting. The question format is primarily Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
Marking Scheme:
The question paper is divided into three sections. Section A comprises 35 questions, and Section B consists of 15 questions, of which candidates need to attempt 10. The subjects covered in NEET include Chemistry, Physics, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The comprehensive exam pattern ensures a thorough evaluation of candidates' knowledge and understanding in the specified subjects.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Requirement:
Candidates must be 17 years of age by 31st December 2023 to be eligible for the 2024 exam.
Nationality:
Eligible candidates include Indian citizens, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, or foreign nationals.
Educational Qualifications:
Applicants should have cleared the 10+2 exam or its equivalent.
Those appearing for the 12th exam are also eligible to apply.
Subjects:
Candidates must be from the science stream.
They should have studied chemistry, physics, biology, and English under a recognized board.
Qualification Examination Scores:
A minimum of 50 percent is required in the three science subjects for general candidates.
Reserved category candidates must have a minimum of 40 percent in the specified subjects.

Steps After Qualifying Neet
The next step after qualifying the NEET exam is the counselling process .Only medics who meet the minimum qualifying percentile for NEET cutoff 2024 will be eligible for admissions. To be considered for NEET counselling, general categories must score 50th percentile, while SC/ST/OBC aspirants need to score 40th percentile. Here are the next steps after the result is out:

Various Type of Seats for Neet Qualifiers Include :
All India Quota (AIQ) seats :
In India, all government medical and dental colleges have allotted 15% of their seats to the NEET AIQ scheme, which will be open to all NEET 2024 candidates (Jammu & Kashmir candidates are also eligible for 15% AIQ seats from 2022). MCC will release the application form for AIQ counselling , and students will have to fill in the application when it is released. AIQ counselling will begin in the online mode and will be conducted in four rounds.
NEET 2024 seats at Deemed and Central universities :
Candidates qualifying for NEET will be able to apply to all central and deemed
universities. Among the central universities are Aligarh Muslim University (AMU),
Banaras Hindu University (BHU), and colleges affiliated with Delhi University (DU) and
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI).
As with AIQ, the DGHS is the counselling authority for Deemed and Central Universities.
In addition, the NEET counselling for the deemed and central universities will also be
conducted online.
For applications to MBBS/BDS seats in deemed and central universities, candidates need
to fill a separate application form released by the DGHS following the release of the
NEET 2024 notification.
NEET 2024 admission to State Government colleges :
When candidates think about what they are going to do after NEET, they typically think about applying to the states of their choice. The 85% of government medical and dental colleges that remain after they surrender 15% of the seats in AIQ are state quota seats. Candidates seeking state quota seats in their respective state government colleges should fill out the application form when their state counselling bodies release it.
NEET 2024 Private College seats :
Regardless of their state of residence or their domicile, all
candidates who qualify for NEET 2024 are eligible to apply for seats in private medical
and dental colleges throughout the country.
Candidates must fill out application forms from respective state counselling
authorities. There are, however, some private colleges that hold aside a certain
percentage of seats for the state quota, which only candidates from those states are
eligible to apply for
Neet Counselling Process
Step 1: NEET counselling registration
Qualified and eligible candidates need to register at mcc.nic.in NEET UG 2024. Applicants must fill out their NEET roll number, registration number, name, mother's name, and date of birth. Next, pay the NEET counselling fee and security fee online with a credit card or debit card.

Step 2 : Choices filling for NEET counselling
Applicants must make a dummy sheet and enter their dream college choices. They can use the NEET college predictor if they want to know their chance of getting into college based on past data. For the NEET counselling 2024 process, they will be able to choose from the list of choices.
Step 3: NEET UG Seat Allotment
Candidates must log in and download their seat allotment letters as soon as they are released.Candidates assigned a seat in round 1 can freely exit without penalty if they don't join the college. For round 2, candidates offered a seat can exit but will lose the security deposit within the specified period.
Step 4: Reporting at the allotted college
Upon receiving an allotment of seats, a candidate must report to the designated college to complete the admissions processes. Reporting or joining during the first round is not mandatory. Those wishing to take a seat or upgrade must join and report. Seat allocation must be followed by reporting and joining in the second round unless candidates are willing to forfeit their security deposit by opting out. When reporting to the assigned college, candidates must present the originals of the specified documents.
