    About Jee Main

    The Joint Entrance Examination (Main), commonly known as JEE Main, is an all-India standardized computer-based test for admission to various undergraduate engineering programs in India. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). The exam is also an eligibility test for JEE Advanced, which is conducted for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

    Eligibility for 2024

    Nationality & Age Limit

    Candidates must be Indian nationals or have the status of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Nepalese citizens/Bhutanese citizens. There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main Paper 2.

    Qualifying Examination

    Candidates must have passed class 12 from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

    Candidates who have passed class 12 in 2023 or appearing in 2024 are eligible to appear in JEE Main Paper 2.

    Candidates who have passed class 12 in 2022 or before are not eligible to appear in JEE Main Paper 2.

    Minimum Mark

    There are no minimum marks required in class 12 to appear in JEE Main Paper 2.

    Additional Eligibility Criteria for Paper 2A :

    Candidates who wish to apply for B.Arch courses must have obtained at least 50% marks in Mathematics and Physics and 50% marks in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in class 12.

    Candidates who belong to the SC/ST/PWD category must have obtained at least 45% marks in Mathematics and Physics and 45% marks in aggregate of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in class 12.

    Additional Eligibility Criteria for Paper 2B :

    Candidates who wish to apply for B.Des courses must have obtained at least 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in aggregate of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in class 12.

    Candidates who belong to the SC/ST/PWD category must have obtained at least 45% marks in Mathematics and 45% marks in aggregate of Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in class 12 .

    : : Important Points to Note : :

  • * Candidates who have passed class 12 with English as a compulsory subject are eligible to appear in Paper 2.
  • * Candidates who have passed class 12 with Hindi as a compulsory subject are eligible to appear in JEE Main Paper 2, but they will have to answer the English Language test in JEE Main.
  • * Candidates who have passed class 12 with a foreign language as a compulsory subject are not eligible to appear in Paper 2.
